MA/DMS Degree Requirements (Effective Spring 2009)
PRE-REQUISITES
Students from a variety of backgrounds are attracted to this degree program. Therefore, to ensure that each student is adequately prepared for the academic rigors of a graduate-level program, the following courses must be satisfactorily completed as a foundation for graduate studies:
Any TWO 2xxx HIST courses
Any ONE 3xxx HIST course
OR
18 undergraduate credits in History or Political Science and/or combination of experience in diplomatic or military affairs.

*MA/DMS students must complete HIST 7602 within seven years from first graduate enrollment.
The grade awarded for HIST 7602 are: A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, or NC (No Credit) for uncompleted papers. The NC grade is assigned to those students who have not successfully completed the professional paper at the end of the term. Students receiving the NC grade must register for HIST 7603 in the next semester and maintain continuous enrollment for up to three semesters until successful completion of their professional paper. As long as the student has been continuously enrolled in HIST 7602/7603, the student will be awarded three semester hours of credit and the appropriate grade for HIST 7602 upon completion of their professional paper. The student who has taken an unapproved hiatus during the HIST 7602/7603 sequence, or fails to complete their professional paper within three consecutive semesters of HIST 7603 enrollment, must re-enroll in HIST 7602 and begin the professional paper sequence anew.
