Both in and out of the classroom, I love the atmosphere here. Everyone is very friendly and open-minded. Professors are interesting and dynamic. Classes are relevant and challenging.

I like studying at HPU because I have the opportunity to develop my skills in business and in English, which is so important in today’s global market. I have also learned a great deal from the diversity here. With people from all over the world, we can combine perspectives for a solution.

After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I plan to go on to my master’s degree and then I’d like to start my own business. I am excited to put into action what I have learned at HPU!

International Transfer Services at HPU

Your previous studies at educational institutions outside the U.S. may qualify you to receive transfer credit (advanced standing) at HPU. HPU evaluates your post-high school studies completed outside the U.S. on a case-by-case basis according to the following guidlines:

  • Your post secondary school must be regionally accredited
  • Your courses must be academic in nature; HPU does NOT award credit for vocational/career-oriented programs
  • Transfer credit will only be awareded for courses completed with the equivalent U.S. grade of C- or better

Required Documentation:

In order to receive transfer credit for studies completed outside the U.S., it is the student's responsibility to submit the following documentation:

  • OFFICIAL transcripts must be mailed directly to HPU from the educational institution you attended
    a) Faxes, e-mail attachments and copies are NOT accepted for educational evaluations
    b) Websites which provide student grade and course information are NOT accepted
    c) For International Baccalaureate (IB) students:
        i. You must submit a copy of your official IB diploma/transcript issued by the
    IBO
ii. HPU does NOT accept school-issued transcripts
iii. You must have your official IB transcript mailed directly to HPU from the
International Baccalaureate Organization. Please click here to request official IB transcripts
  • Course descriptions for all courses you are seeking transfer credit for
    a) If your school provides these online, please provide the specific website where these are located
    b) Course descriptions MUST be in English. If they are not available in English, it is the student's responsibility to have them professionally translated
    c) If you know you will be transferring to HPU, you should begin gathering the course syllabi from the courses you've taken abroad.

Preliminary evaluation (early transcript evaluation): Hawai'i Pacific University offers early transcript evaluation for prospective international students.

  • If you plan on transferring to HPU and would like to know how many of your current college credits can be transferred, email or fax us your official transcripts (must be original) and course descriptions (must be in English) with a written request for an early (unofficial) evaluation.
  • Allow 2-3 weeks for the preliminary evaluation to be completed. Please be aware that not all college credits may transfer; this is largely dependent on the school you attended, your field of study, your final grade point average, and the English language requirements.

Articulation Agreements: Hawai'i Pacific University has articulation agreements with various institutions throughout the world. We recognize and guarantee transfer credits for courses completed (with a grade of "C" or higher) from these universities.

  • To find out if your current school has an articulation agreement with HPU, see your college counselor, or contact the International Center.
  • Please note that due to a revision of HPU's General Education Program requirements, articulation agreements with school signed before January 2008, will be honored for all incoming transfer students who begin their studies at HPU before January 1, 2009.
