  SEA WARRIOR CHEERLEADERS IN ACTION

HPU's National Champion cheerleading squad is comprised of male and female athletes highly skilled in areas such as gymnastics and partner stunting. The squad promotes school spirit for HPU athletic teams and can be seen performing at HPU volleyball and basketball games and at various community events. The squad also attends a National Cheerleading Association (NCA) camp and competition.

Tryouts, both live and by videotape, are held every spring, and tuition scholarships are available for incoming HPU students and current cheerleaders. Live tryouts for the 2010-2011 teams will be held in Spring 2010.  Check back after November 1, 2009 for updated information.

Question:  As a new captain for the Large Coed team, how do you plan to help lead your team this next season in and outside of practices leading up nationals? What expectations do you have for yourself and your peers and will you do to meet and exceed them?

Answer:  I plan to help lead the team with a positive attitude and hard work ethic.  I want to be supportive in and outside the gym and help lead by example.  I want to be a strong teammate and prove that I am willing to go above and beyond to help the team succeed.  I expect all of us to keep our grades up and gain new skills as the year progresses.  I am looking forward to this year because everyone is so amazingly talented and everyone got along so great at camp.  The team vibe this year is the best I have ever felt on any team.

Question:  As a new captain for the Small Coed team, how do you plan to help lead your team this next season to help reclaim the national title?  What goals do you have for your team and what actions will you take  to obtain these goals and see that they are met by everyone?

Answer:  I know small coed will be successful this season in reclaiming our national title because we have determination, motivation, and most of all - heart.  Every individual on small coed has endured, witnessed, or heard about our misfortune last year.  I believe that this past national’s disaster that devastated the entire team will benefit us this year.  The heart and soul that I saw small coed put into every practice last year will not ever be lost or forgotten by any member of our program.  This year I think returning members and rookies will work harder and harder every practice in order to achieve our team goal of once again being national champions.  I plan to help my team achieve this goal by believing in them, encouraging them to stay positive throughout the year and leading by example in and out of practice.  In addition to that I hope to help keep this team on track by reminding everyone of what we have to gain and not what we have lost.  I myself cannot do everything, but the things I can do I will do to the best of my ability and I will expect the same from everyone else.  The number one thing I love about “smallz” is that we are firm but fun.  We work hard in practice and it is always fun for us because we respect each other and try to make to best out of every day.

Aloha Everyone! I am very excited to start this season! The number one reason that you all are here is for an education. Defending and reclaiming our titles starts with hard work inside and outside of the classroom.  Winning is not a "sometime thing"; it's an "all the time thing." You don't win once in a while, you don't do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit! Make it a habit to win every time you step foot into practice and most importantly in the class room!
