Hawai'i Pacific University awarded grants totaling more than $43,000 to 34 faculty members to fund a variety of their professional development initiatives. They include conference presentations throughout the country and the world, including British Columbia, Denmark, France, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Malaysia, Netherlands, and Spain.

Grant recipients for spring 2004 are:

	Dr. Jerome Agrusa, Professor of Travel Industry Management, for his upcoming paper presentation on "The Economic Benefits of the 31st Honolulu Marathon by Runners from Japan" at the 10th Asia pacific Tourism Association Annual Conference in Nagasaki, Japan, July 2004.
	Dr. Eric Brewe, Assistant Professor of Physics, for his upcoming paper presentation on "Re-Modeling University Physics" at the American Association of Physics Teachers National Convention, in Sacramento, California, July 2004.
	Marvin Brown, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, for presenting a paper on "Effects of the Neural Network s-Sigmoid Function on KDD in the Presence of Imprecise Data" at the Decision Sciences Institute Annual Meeting in Washington D.C., November 2003, and at the INFORMS Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, October 2003.
