Lars Cramer, Germany

When I first came to HPU, I thought it would be hard to get back to school after 11 years of military service in Germany, my home country, and two and a half years in foreign countries like Kosovo and Afghanistan.

Fortunately the orientation session gave me a lot of information about how to get started: Where to find housing, where to get my course books; as well as how to cope with the changes ahead of me. This balanced my transition and prepared me for the challenges of studying at HPU.

In Germany, I used to study on my own. It appeared to be different at HPU: my classmates helped each other, and the professors are very forthcoming, cooperative, and supportive.  This team atmosphere is helping me succeed in the classroom.

Through my life experiences, I have come to the conclusion that we need to make some changes in our lives. That is why I am majoring in Diplomacy/Military Studies:  I want to be able to make these changes after I resume my military career path.  I think HPU is helping me develop the skills necessary to succeed in the future.
