Aloha and Welcome to Hawai’i Pacific University!
Thank you for your interest in HPU. As you complete your admissions process and prepare to attend, I would like to offer you some important information on financial aid. In today’s economy, the price of college education can be one of the most expensive endeavors that most students and/or families will ever undertake. We strive to maintain good communication with our students, and are always looking for better ways to share critical information. I encourage you to read through the financial aid website thoroughly; it has recently been redesigned to provide details on the application and awarding process. Please read all correspondence you receive thoroughly, and ask questions if something is not familiar. Applying for aid can feel like a daunting process, but we are here to assist you, and help you make informed decisions.
The first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. You should complete this application in January of each year for the upcoming academic year. It is important to complete the FAFSA early to meet our priority processing date of March 1st. Financial aid is only a supplement to your college costs, and in order to be eligible for the best award package, it is critical that we have the most accurate information.
With good planning, HPU is an affordable education option. Our merit and talent based scholarships, coupled with our low tuition, help students pursue their educational goals, and receive financial aid from a variety of sources. We encourage smart borrowing with respect to all student loans, and will be there to counsel you on the options most appropriate for you.
Good luck in your educational pursuits.
