Up with People

Academic Credits

Students completing the Up with People program will be awarded 15 general education credits (12 lower-division, 3 upper-division) at HPU upon successful completion of the Up with People program. All lower-division, upper-division and major course requirements for a baccalaurate degree will need to be taken unless an equivalent was completed prior to transferring to HPU.

The following will be used to determine transfer credit on a student-by-student basis in order to best meet the general education requirements for their desired major:

COMMUNICATION SKILLS (3 credits)

• COM 1000: Introducation to Communication Skills
• THEA 2320: Acting I 

WORLD CULTURES (3 credits)

• GEOG 1500: World Regional Geography
• COM 2300: Communications and Culture
• MUS 1000: Introducation to Classical Music
• MUS 2101: Music in World Culture  

GLOBAL SYSTEMS (3 credits)

• GEOG 2000: Introduction to Human Geography
• COM 2300: Communications and Culture
• MUS 1000: Introducation to Classical Music
• MUS 2101: Music in World Culture  

VALUES AND CHOICES (3 credtis)

• HUM 1000: Introduction to Humanities
• THEA 1000: Introduction to Theater

UPPER-DIVISION (3 credits)

• ANTH 3230: Making a Difference
• HUM 4500: The World Problematique

Verification of the completion of the Up with People program will need to be provided to the HPU Office of Admissions by the Up with People Administration. Students who participated in but did not complete the program and wish to transfer to HPU will be awarded credit for the time they participated in the program.

Students who have previously attended other universities may also be eligible for additional credit and should have official transcripts from those universities sent directly to HPU Office of Admissions for transfer credit evaluation. Please note that courses that are clearly vocational or technical may not transfer into HPU.
