About USIL: 
Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) located in Lima the capital city of Peru, proudly touts the unique entrepreneurial and global perspective of its faculty. Students can expect a mix of theory and practice in the class room, as USIL applies students’ lessons through the practical application of case study. Along with undergraduate work, this university also offers business-oriented graduate programs to international exchange students. In particular, USIL provides course work for an MBA program and an MS in Management. USIL provides a specialized Spanish immersion course set in Cusco for international exchange students visiting the university--there is however, a program fee associated with the Cusco program. Courses are also available to those interested in the culinary arts.

* Please remember HPU Study Abroad Application Deadline is Mid-March for Fall and Mid-October for Spring. 

Admission Requirements:

  • Must have attended HPU for one semester
  • Must intend to graduate from HPU
  • Must have at least a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be fluent in English; some Spanish is preferred.

Application Procedure:

  • Complete the Student Exchange Program data sheet.
  • Schedule and attend a formal interview with Melissa Matsubara
  • Be prepared to discuss your motives for studying abroad and your degree plan.
  • Select an exchange partner university that has courses which can be used for your intended HPU degree.
  • Fill out the exchange university’s admissions application
  • Obtain recommendation letters to be turned in with your application. (This depends on the individual university’s application requirements)
  • Passport photos (Amount and size depend upon each university)
  • Sign a Course Request Approval (CRA) to verify your foreign coursework and HPU equivalents.

Health Insurance: Health Insurance is mandatory for all study abroad students.  HPU recommends health insurance from Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI) for students study abroad. Students are responsible for establishing their lodgings for the duration of their visit, and must contact USIL accordingly.

Visa Information:  Participants need a proper visa prior to entering Peru. Students are advised to contact a consulate or the Embassy of Peru for more information.
