Make a Difference Day
Chinatown Scrub Down
Do you take pride in HPU and our downtown Honolulu community? Want to make a difference and give back to this neighborhood? Make a Difference Day is the largest national day of community service. In the spirit of this event, a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors, HPU is partnering with Downtown Honolulu-Chinatown business owners and merchants to clean up and preserve the downtown area.
The Arts District Merchants Association (ADMA) has recently joined the City’s Adopt a Block Program and is now responsible for the area bounded by Smith to Bethel Street and Beretania Street to Nimitz Highway. ADMA’s first Adopt a Block effort, Chinatown Scrub Down, took place in April 2013 during which a cadre of volunteers worked to remove graffiti, staples, tape and unwanted posters from nearby buildings and utility poles.
Join us in this community-wide clean up project. All supplies and equipment will be provided. All HPU volunteers must wear closed toed shoes and will receive a FREE Swag Bag for participating!
