On Campus Amenities



Keys: Each resident will be issued a room key and mailbox key. It costs $100 to replace a lost room key and $25 to replace a lost mailbox key.

Laundry: There are two card-operated washing machines and two dryers located in each residence hall. Its costs $1.25 to wash a load of clothes in the washer. Its costs $1.00 to dry a load of clothes. Laundry cards must be purchased in order to use the machines.

Mail: All residents are assigned a mailbox. Mail is delivered between 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no mail delivery on weekends and University holidays.

Security: The Hawaii Loa campus has 24-hour security. There is a security post located in the residence halls area.

Parking: Students living in the residence halls that own vehicles and wish to park on campus must purchase a RESIDENT PARKING DECAL for the semester at the University Bookstore on the Hawai'i Loa campus.  After making your purchase, proceed to Residence Life in the Annex to pick up your decal.

Telephone/Cable:Telephone and cable may be installed in a resident's room if he/she wishes to make arrangements with the local telephone/cable company. Residents are responsible for all installation, disconnection, and monthly charges.

Wireless Internet: Wireless Internet is available in the residence halls but connectivity and authentication must first be assigned by the HPU Educational Technology Center.

Fitness Center: The Fitness Center is located on the ground floor of the Dining Commons and available to all HPU students. It is equipped with free weights, exercise machines, and cardiovascular equipment.  Hours for the Fitness Center vary each semester and are posted on the door of the Fitness Center.

Student Center:  The Student Center is located on the ground floor of the Dining Commons. A large screen television, movie video rentals, pool table, ping pong table, and a few computers are provided for student use. The Residence Activities Council office is also located in the Student Center.

Winter Housing: The residence halls close for the winter break. Residents do not need to move their belongings out of their room for the winter break. If a student needs to stay in the residence halls over the winter break, or any portion thereof, an additional charge will be assessed.
