Testing Services - Overview

Hawai'i Pacific University students may be required to take placement tests before registering for certain classes. The Center for Academic Success (CAS) offers different testing services for on-campus students.

  • Placement testing in English (writing), math, computer science, and modern languages (Chinese, French, Hawaiian, Korean, Japanese, and Spanish).
  • College Level Exam Program (CLEP), and
  • Proctored testing for students who are eligible for ADA accommodations.

On-island Testing

Students taking a placement test on-campus should read "All About the Placement Tests," which can be accessed by clicking on the link on the right side of this screen. This publication includes desriptions of HPU's placement tests for English (writing), math, computer science, and modern languages (Chinese, French, Hawaiian, Korean, Japanese, and Spanish). Placement testing appointments can be scheduled HERE.

Off-island Testing

Off-island placement tests are limited to English (writing), math, and computer science.  Students taking a placement test off-campus should read "All About the Placement Tests" and "Placement Testing (Off-campus)," which can be accessed by clicking the links on the right side of this screen.
