Walk a Mile in Her Shoes 2015

Hawaii Pacific University's Student Government Association is hosting its second Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event: The International Men's March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence. This event will highlight Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April. The goal of presenting this event is to create a united gender movement that engages men and allows them to be a part of the solution to ending sexualized violence. The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event asks men to literally walk one mile in women s shoes which is not an easy task.  This act generates a unique and powerful public experience that educates individuals and communities about the causes of sexualized violence, provides prevention and remediation strategies, and empowers everyone to further develop and implement these skills and knowledge interpersonally and politically. Sexualized violence does not just affect women; it affects the men who care about them, their families, their friends, their coworkers, and their communities.
