HONOLULU — Students interested in attending Hawai‘i Pacific University are invited to enjoy a slice of campus life at “Frenzy: Sharks Night at the Blaisdell,” Monday, Feb. 24, at the Neal Blaisdell Center.
The event will feature two basketball games against Fresno Pacific University with the women’s contest starting at 4:30 p.m. and the men’s game at 6:30 p.m. It will be Seniors Night for both teams, recognizing athletes who will be playing their final home games for HPU, as well as Kam’s Helmets Night, where multisport and moped helmets will be given away free to students.
The Frenzy shines a spotlight on prospective undergraduate and graduate students who have applied for admission to HPU or who might be considering an application. Students will be admitted free of charge with a student ID from any school or college. Children are free. Admission for adults is $5, $3 for senior citizens.
The Frenzy will feature prize giveaways, an Admission information table and pictures with the HPU mascot, Sharky, as well as the games themselves. Students are encouraged to don their best “Tacky Aloha Wear,” celebrating Hawai‘i’s version of the ugly Christmas sweater. Prizes will be given at halftime to winners of a “most tacky” competition.
“Supporting the Sharks at sporting events and being part of our student body are some of the best aspects of the student experience at HPU,” said Sara Sato, acting vice president of Admission. “We encourage students who are applying for the summer or fall terms or a future term to join us and see what it’s like to be part of our ʼohana.”
