Update: Water main leak at Hawaii Loa Campus

August 07, 2013

UPDATE 8/7, 3:20 p.m.

Water service to the Hawaii Loa Campus has been turned off while repair work is being done to fix the water main break. The campus remains open for normal operations during repairs. However, work is anticipated to last approximately 3-4 hours, at which time there will be no water service to HLC. We expect by tomorrow that water service will be fully restored.

UPDATE 8/6, 6 p.m.

A leak from the water main serving the AC Building and chiller plant on the Hawaii Loa Campus is being investigated for repair needs after personnel at HLC reported a possible break earlier today. A plumbing contractor will be at work on Wednesday morning, unearthing the piping and assessing the situation. It is expected that water service will need to be interrupted for several hours to make necessary repairs to the system. The university will advise as to the likely duration of the outage after that assessment tomorrow, along with any potential changes in campus hours and operations.

Please monitor e-mail and the university website as the situation develops. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.
