HPU announces key new leadership hires

HONOLULU — Hawai‘i Pacific University recently filled several positions critical to its continued forward progress and its development as Hawai‘i’s leading private university.

Sharon Blanton was named Chief Information Officer and Vice President. She was chief information officer for Portland State University in Oregon. She previously served as chief information officer for both Scottsdale and Pima community colleges in Arizona. She holds a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Virginia, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Capella University.

Christine Godfrey was named Vice President for Human Resources. She was recently director of Human Resources at Dominican University of California. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson University, an MBA from the University of San Francisco and a certificate in Japanese Studies, earned from Nanzan University in Japan.

Jean Lang has been named Registrar. She has been campus registrar for Washington State University-Vancouver for the past 18 years. Prior to that, she held leadership posts in admissions and the registrar’s office at the University of Idaho and Lewis-Clark State College. She joins HPU on April 1.

Mark Delos Reyes Davis has been appointed Chief of Staff for President Geoffrey Bannister. Davis recently lived in Beijing where he consulted for universities and non-governmental organizations on international academic, research, communications and outreach strategies. Previously, he was assistant to the president of Rice University and helped coordinate the university’s international initiatives. He is the former executive director of the Association of Rice Alumni. Davis holds a master’s degree in Law from Tsinghua University in Beijing and a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona.

Samuel Moku was named Director of Public and Governmental Relations, in the Office of University Counsel. He recently was the director of the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Community Services. He was also an executive director with the State Department of Hawaiian Home Lands. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and an MBA from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.

Scott Hayashi was named Aloha Tower Marketplace Project Manager, following a successful career in real estate management. He previously served as asset manager for the successful Koko Marina Center project and as commercial real estate asset manager for Kamehameha Schools. He is a graduate of Iolani School and the University of Hawai‘i.
