HPU booth visited by Guinness record holder
December 13, 2011
The Hawai‘i Pacific University booth at the Honolulu Marathon Expo at the Hawaii Convention Center welcomed Guinness World Record holder Gladys Burrill, third from left, Dec. 8. Burrill set the record as the oldest woman to finish a marathon after last year’s Honolulu Marathon at 92. Now 93, she was inducted into the marathon’s hall of fame (see story at KITV news). HPU Professor Dr. Jerry Agrusa, second from left, oversees an annual survey conducted by HPU students. After students collected more than 1,800 surveys over four days, he expected marathon participants to spend more money and stay longer in Hawai‘i this year.
"This is an opportunity for students to use what they have learned in the classroom in a real world tourism setting," Agrusa said.
Dr. Agrusa was recently interviewed by KHON news.
