The athletics department announced the hiring of Brent Curry as the new sports information director at Hawai'i Pacific University. Curry replaces John Barry as the contact for all 12 of HPU’s NCAA sports.

Curry is no stranger to HPU athletics; in 2005 he became a Sea Warrior as a graduate assistant in the Sports Information Department under Jeff Harada. Upon completion of his master’s degree in communication, Curry became the “voice of the Sea Warriors” on both radio and television. In addition, Curry has served as an Administrative Assistant in the athletics office since 2008.

“We are very excited about this hire, Brent has been a loyal employee for many years, he is truly passionate about this university and its athletics teams,” said HPU Athletics Director Darren Vorderbruegge.

A self described sports fanatic and statistics junkie, Curry is pleased to be the new SID. “I am extremely fired up for this opportunity, my previous work with John and Jeff has put me in a position to excel. I am the biggest Sea Warrior fan there is, to be able to make this my livelihood is unbelievable. I am extraordinary blessed," he said.

Previous to his days in Hawai'i, Curry served in the front office for the Erie SeaWolves, the AA affiliate for the Detroit Tigers, as well as the part time voice of the ‘Wolves and Gannon University men’s basketball.

Curry currently resides in Kaimuki.
