Native Hawaiian Speaker Series: Dean Wilhelm
December 07, 2012 12:00 PM - December 07, 2012 01:00 PM
Location: Sharky's Cove (MP 139)COME LEARN THE TRUE HAWAIIAN WAY
Join us for a series of events that invite prominent Hawaiian people to come to HPU and speak (“talk story” style) about the Hawaiian culture, values and traditions.
Dean Wilhelm is a teacher at Olomana Hawaii Youth Correctional Facilities where 50% of the students/prisoners are Hawaiian. He is also the owner of Kapalai Farms in Maunawili where he strives to provide leadership, mentorship and inspiration to these struggling youths through experiential learning opportunities on his 8-acre lo`i(taro) patch/farm.
The Native Hawaiian speakers that participate in these events give our students, faculty and staff the unique opportunity to intimately learn about this culturally rich place we call home.
