Activities & Events You’ll Enjoy

The Center for Student Life and First-Year Programs holds regular on-campus activities and events to enhance your college experience at HPU. These activities are great opportunities to take a break and have fun, and we encourage you to get involved in them. At HPU, your classes will be rigorous and academics will need to be your top priority. You’ll want to balance the academic side of college life with the social side. Participating in on-campus and off-campus activities will help you relieve stress, make new friends, and just have fun. Students can look forward to the following events:

Campus Overview
  • Da Freakshow, HPU’s annual talent show.
  • Club Carnival features booths by HPU’s Registered Independent Organizations (clubs and organizations) at the beginning of each semester.
  • Halloween Hoopla is a fun celebration of the season while introducing our men and women’s basketball teams.
  • Welcome Week occurs during the first week of fall and spring semesters. Events vary, but often include food, music and a fun kick-off to the semester.
  • HPU Idol is a competition held regularly in the Sea Warrior Center.
  • Taste of HPU regularly occurs to encourage students to taste cuisines from around the world.
  • Movie on the Mall brings intriguing and thought-provoking films to the community. In collaboration with Honolulu Culture and Arts and Fort Street Business Improvement District, this event is held on Fort Street Mall in downtown Honolulu.
  • Music on the Mall occurs monthly on Fort Street Mall featuring talents from the Islands and afar.
  • Final Fiesta occurs as an end of the year celebration on the Downtown campus. 
Da Freak Show

HPU provides the Sea Warrior Center, a comfortable gathering place for students, on the downtown campus.  Along with a lot of study space, you’ll find a pool table, a ping pong table, a foosball table, a big screen television and comfy couches for visiting with friends.The Sea Warrior Center hosts a variety of events, including HPU Idol, and is available for group activities thru student clubs. The Center for Student Life and First-Year Programs offers many co-curricular and extracurricular programs, activities, and services to support and enhance the college experience at HPU.
