Accomplished Faculty Both Inside and Outside the Classroom

Meet Dr. Vincent Tsushima
Professor of Psychology and Justice Administration

At Hawai‘i Pacific University, you’ll see both sides of your professors as you get to know them as colleagues and mentors. HPU faculty members are renowned for the personal interest they take in each of their students. There are no teaching assistants in our classrooms, only highly qualified and respected faculty with academic and business credentials.  Faculty range from top level executives at Fortune 500 companies to state government leaders whose real-world knowledge enlivens the learning experience.

Our faculty’s student-centered approach, small class sizes, and a low student-faculty ratio translate into personal attention from faculty. Even with 8,200 students, our average class size is less than 18 students. So you’ll enjoy all of the technological and academic resources expected at a large university, delivered within the atmosphere of a small school. One-on-one guidance happens naturally due to the low student-faculty ratio of 15:1.  Professors have time for you inside and outside the classroom, whether it’s to help with a difficult class assignment or with an extracurricular activity. It just shows how much our professors care here at HPU, where students are the priority.
