Gen Ed Approvals and Recertifications

Courses approved in 2006, 2007 or spring 2008 were approved by the GECS. Courses approved Fall 2008 or later were approved by the GECAC.

Recertification Cycle 1 extends from Fall 2010 through Fall 2011. All courses assigned to cycle 1 should have been reviewed and recertified by the end of the Fall term 2011 or be actively working to complete assessments or correct other issues identified in a first reading. These issues need to be resolved and the recertification process completed by the end of spring term 2012. When a course is recertified the record will be put in the last recertified column and the next R scheduled column will be reset (for example from Cycle 1 to Cycle 3)

Dormant courses (approved by never yet taught) or courses taught in single sections no more than 2 times or new courses scheduled for the first time in 2011 have not yet been assigned to a recertification schedule.

Note: the requirements for this category changed by vote of the GECAC in order to be more flexible (4-27-09). Originally CS 1, 4 ,5 and 7 were required. The new requirements were CS 4, CS 5, one other CS outcome, on other gen ed outcome from any category. This allowed JOUR 1100 to meet the requirements for the category. Subsequently the WRI faculty voted to replace CS1 with R&E4 as one of the four required outcomes in both WRI 1100 and WRI 1150.
