There are multiple resources and services available to both full-time and adjunct faculty.  From making copies to high-speed internet access, the options are generally available 6 days a week while school is in session.

Faculty Support Center (FSC)

The Faculty Support Center is a hub of activity.  They are your resource for the following items and services:

  • Mailboxes
  • Copies
  • Course Syllabi
  • Tests
  • Scantron sheets
  • End of Semester Evaluations
  • Class Cancellations (please call to cancel a class and a notice will be posted at the door)

Educational Technology Center (ETC)
@ Hawai‘i Loa Campus

Students and faculty may use the ETC to access the many materials in the University's audiovisual materials collections. Faculty may also borrow AV materials and equipment for classroom use from either location.

At the ETC you will find the following resources:

  • The University's collections of audiovisual materials including videotapes, educational software and audiotapes for study of languages and other subjects.
  • Video viewing stations for either individuals or small groups.
  • Language lab audiotape carrels for language study.
  • Multimedia computers and a large selection of educational software and multimedia CD ROM programs.
  • Audiovisual equipment for use in classrooms.

University Libraries

These things will NEVER go out of style! Hawai’i Pacific University’s libraries collections contain

  • print and electronic books
  • journals/magazines
  • newspaper titles
  • periodicals also available in microform format
  • online research databases that can be accessed on campus or from home

Personal assistance for research projects and papers is provided by professional librarians from the reference desks at both libraries. The "Ask a Librarian” service lets students submit reference questions in an easy online form.

Meader Library @ Downtown Campus

This library occupies three floors at 1060 Bishop Street (LB Building). Group study rooms and general seating are provided in different arrangements for user needs.

Reference Services, Floor 2

This section contains reference materials with a focus on Business, Social Sciences and Computer Sciences. There are also specialized collections such as: the Topic Assistance Center, where students can generate topic ideas and locate background information for research papers; and the Corporation Information Center, which contains operating and financial information on companies locally, nationally, and internationally. Interlibrary loan and document delivery services for students and faculty are available.

Circulation Services, Floor 3

This floor provides access to circulating book titles primarily focused on business, social science and computer science subject areas. There is also a collection of books that support English language proficiency. The circulation services desks at both libraries maintain a book delivery service for students between the two Libraries and the Military Campus Programs’ sites. Reading assignments from instructors for their students’ use are kept on Reserve at the circulation services desks.

This library section is where you will find access to magazines, journals, and newspapers in print, microfilm and electronic format. PERFAX, a periodical article delivery service between the two libraries and the Military Campus Programs’ sites, is available to students for a nominal fee.

During the major academic terms, the HPU Libraries are open seven days a week including evening hours, and maintain extended evening hours during the final weeks of the major academic semesters. Library hours are generally shortened during the summer sessions.

Atherton Library @ Hawai‘i Loa Campus

This library’s collection supports Marine Science, Nursing, Pre-Medical Studies and Environmental Science degree programs. A large portion of the circulating collection is also devoted to the Humanities. There are individual study carrels, individual study rooms and general seating areas in the library to accommodate user needs.
