Tips to Stand Out at the Career Fair:

  • Research the companies prior to coming to the fair and select at least 5 companies to target.    Find out more about the organizations so that you can tailor your resume and ask specific questions.
  • Bring an ample supply of tailored resumes to distribute to employers.  While many employers may prefer that you submit your resume online, it is always best to come prepared.
  • Practice your elevator speech - a 30-second "commercial" where you introduce yourself, briefly mention your skills, qualifications, and what kind of opportunities you are interested in.
  • Dress appropriately - first impressions are important!  Business casual attire is recommended for HPU Career Fairs.
  • View our PowerPoint presentation:  "How to Effectively Prepare For, and Attend, A Career Fair"
