Admissions Requirements for Dual Degree
The HPU Dual Degree program is a very structured, rigorous, three-year program that consists of Math, Chemistry, Physics as well as General Education. Freshman students with regular status must have a secondary school record that clearly demonstrates both ability and motivation. In addition to satisfying all the regular Hawai'i Pacific University requirements, students should have completed high school science courses, including physics, mathematics through precalculus, trigonometry and chemistry (calculus is recommended), with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
Students may transfer in a small number of college credits from other universities but they must have been completed in a timely manner that demonstrates that the student is ready for upper division science and math course work.
Any deviation from the Dual Degree Course Planning Worksheet puts students at risk for acceptance to our partner engineering schools. Students who do not matriculate to the engineering school of their choice will usually continue on at HPU for an Applied Math degree and then possibly graduate school.
