I first learned about HPU in a magazine on military-friendly schools. The major draw, of course, was the small classroom sizes and yellow ribbon scholarship for military veterans. Unlike other schools that I’ve been to, you’re not just a number. Students can also approach professors directly instead of going through a teaching assistant or student worker.

In fact, it was mathematics professors that influenced my decision to switch from a Biology major to an Applied Mathematics (emphasis on Pre-Medical studies). The mentorship has lead me to become the first Student Body President to come from the Computational Natural Sciences College. Recently I’ve been accepted into Boston University’s summer Biostatistics program.

As a non-traditional military veteran transfer student, Hawai‘i Pacific University math professors have really help me adjust into the university setting. If you want to be part of strong global student community with world-class mathematicians, come join us.
