LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES

HPU's Paul and Vi Loo Theatre presents

LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES (DANGEROUS LIAISONS)
by Christopher Hampton
directed by Joyce Maltby

Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Dangerous Liaisons) is a tale of sex, power, and the strategies of seduction among the aristocrats in France before the revolutions.  The two main characters, the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, plot their vicious scheme with the same reverence one might give to planning a war.  Winner of London's Olivier Award for Best Play, a Tony nominee, and an Oscar winner for the film version, the stage production opened in New York in 1987 to rave reviews.  The New York Post said it was "destined to become the most talked about play of the season...an evening of high comedy, high drama and surprising passion.  The New York Times called their world of aggression and narcissism "compelling." And "Spellbinding…astonishing...perfect," said the N.Y. Daily News.
