2013 Missouri Encampment
The Association for Diplomacy and Military Studies (ADMS), a HPU registered student organization, and HPU’S Diplomacy and Military Studies Program cordially invite you, your friends and family to join us aboard the historic battleship USS MISSOURI for an extraordinary overnight experience on Saturday-Sunday, November 9th – 10th, 2013. In remembrance of the sacrifices of military service personnel and veterans everywhere, for Veterans Day, we will join the staff and volunteers of the USS Missouri Memorial Museum Association on board the “Mighty Mo” and be transported back in time to relive the history of this majestic battleship! Together, we will relive the events of December 7th 1941 as well as the surrender ceremony held on the Missouri’s deck ending the Second World War on 2 September 1945.
Our special overnight encampment will take us areas of the USS Missouri that are not normally open to the public so be sure to bring your cameras! We will sleep in the enlisted men’s and women’s bunks, receive a navy dinner and breakfast from the ship’s Truman Line and eat together in the crew’s Mess.
The cost of this incomparable experience is ONLY $65 (payable by credit card or electronic check), which includes overnight single berth accommodation, dinner and breakfast. The experience…is unique, unforgettable, and priceless!

FULLY COMPLETED APPLICATIONS AND WAIVERS (WHERE REQUIRED) MUST BE RECEIVED BY MONDAY MORNING, 28 OCTOBER.
NOTE: There are only 60 berths available. Fully completed applications with full payment will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. An individual application MUST BE COMPLETED FOR EVERY PERSON wishing to participate in the encampment (children over 10 included). Please complete the online payment process (multiple tickets can be purchased at one time. Maximum of 4) and down-load the accompanying USS Missouri Encampment Application Packet and (for HPU faculty, staff, and students ONLY) the HPU Liability Waiver and Release Agreement. Applicants with incomplete applications at the deadline will not be able to participate because there will be insufficient time to obtain Missouri access passes. Applicants are responsible for submitting completed applications by the due deadline.

Saturday, November 9th
- 16:00 (4pm) arrival / move gear to berthing area
- Arrival orientation, main deck and shipboard history tour
- Evening color on Fantail
- Ship’s Dinner in the Crew Mess
- Behind the Scenes interior spaces tour
- Muster on Surrender Deck for Surrender Ceremony
- Lights out – Sleep in a bunk in the enlisted crew’s quarters (bedding provided).
Sunday, November 10th
- 07:00 (7am) Rise and Shine
- Breakfast in the Crew Mess
- Morning Colors followed by group photo on the Bow
- Service Learning project (OPTIONAL): help prepare the ship for its Veterans Day Ceremony and/or work on preserving the 40mm Antiaircraft Gun dockside
- Approx. 10:00 (10.00am) Depart Ford Island
The service project is VOLUNTARY. It would involve giving back to the Mighty Mo and all those who have served in her by helping preserve her so that many generations to come may enjoy her as much as we do.
The ADMS Overnight Encampment won HPU’s Registered Student Organization Event of the Year in 2010!
The deadline to complete payment is SUNDAY OCTOBER 27th 2013. The deadline to submit all completed application materials is Monday Noon, October 28, 2013.
