McMahon is the author of How the Mistakes Were Made, published in 2011 by St. Martin's Press.  An earlier novel, Chloroquine Dreams, made him a finalist for Amazon's 2008 Breakthrough Novel Award. In 2009 he was nominated for the Pushcart Prize and was runner-up in the Ian McMillan Writing Contest of 2011. He has also published more than 35 essays, short stories, interviews, and reviews.

9:15-9:30         Award of 11th annual HPU James M. Vaughan Award for Poetry

9:30-10:30       Guest speaker, Tyler McMahon

10:30-10:45     Break

10:45-11:00     Introduction of Workshop facilitators

11:00-12:30     First Workshop Sessions in Non-Fiction, Poetry, Fiction, and Scriptwriting

12:30-1:30       Lunch (Brown Bag) with free drinks

1:30-3:00         Second Workshop Sessions in four areas

3:00-3:30         Share and get back together time (End of Day)

Cost is $20. ($10 students with student id). Fees acepted at the door.
