Paid Journalism Internship!
The Society of Professional Journalists, Hawaii professional chapter, and local news media organizations are offering part-time, paid journalism internships this fall to college and university students and recent graduates.
• Internships with print and online organizations are for 210 hours. Total pay to the intern: $1,700. The hourly pay rate for the intern works out to $8.09 an hour.
• Internships with broadcast organizations are for 140 hours. Total pay to the intern: $1,120. The hourly pay rate for the intern works out to $8.00 an hour.
The exact schedule of work is arranged between the intern and the media organization. It can last anywhere from 10 to 18 weeks; the hours can be the same each week or can vary. The internships must end by the last day of December 2011.
Participating news media organizations are still be recruited so no list is yet available of the organizations.
• Who is eligible? The program is open to any full-time or part-time college or university student, and anyone who has been a college graduate for fewer than 12 months.
