John Windrow teaches journalism, media law, and ethics and is the Undergraduate curriculum Chair.

Windrow has taught journalism at the University of Minnesota, Saint Thomas University in St. Paul, and the University of Hawaii. He also works part time at the Honolulu Advertiser, the largest news operation in the state.

Windrow started in journalism in 1980. He has worked at the Columbia Missourian, the San Antonio Light, the Stars and Stripes (in Germany), the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the Advertiser.

He has also worked in radio and TV in Missouri, as a stringer for RKO Radio in Germany and various magazine and freelance assignments.

Windrow was born in Tennessee and grew up on a farm. He spent four years as a Navy officer in the Pacific Fleet. Windrow worked many other jobs before he became a journalist

He and his wife Patricia, a published novelist, live in Kaimuki.
