The Japan Research Group (JRG) was established in summer 2013 to promote and to disseminate research on Japan, foster communication among diverse disciplines, and encourage new approaches in the understanding of Japan and its place in the world.
The JRG serves as a home to faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, as well as administrators and staff. In addition, the JRG welcomes members from a variety of disciplines and professional schools, museums, visiting artists and scholars, and community organizations pursuing Japan-related interests and activities at Hawaii Pacific University.
The Group’s primary mission is to advance the acquisition and transfer of knowledge about traditional and contemporary Japan, with a focus on how these developments will affect academic and public communities in Hawaii.
