BA in Humanities: Concentration Areas

Philosophy lies at the foundation of practically every discipline.  The concentration in Philosophy at HPU will prepare students to critically evaluate and articulate solutions for dealing with many of life’s persistent questions.  In addition, the pursuit of philosophical study trains students in the highly desirable skills of analytic reasoning, critique, and debate skills that translate into success in virtually any field of employment or post-graduate study.  Both Western and non-Western traditions are emphasized in the curriculum, which consist of the study of ethics, logic, and philosophies of art, film, religion, and the social sciences, as well as on the history of philosophical ideas in China, India, Japan, and the West.  Majors in philosophy tend to have higher combined scores than any other field on the GRE, GMAT, and LSAT, making them highly desirable candidates for post-graduate studies in the humanities, social sciences, business and law.
