Biography
Teaching:
Jack has taught all levels of accounting and finance courses at HPU, Chaminade University of Honolulu, University of Hawaii-Manoa. He specialized in teaching Advanced Accounting at University of Nevada. Jack has taught CPA review classes for over thirty years. He served as a lecturer at Leeward Community College, Honolulu Business College and Hawaii School of Business. He currently teaches primarily Principles of Accounting I and II, Intermediate Accounting and Auditing. Jack received the Distinguished Achievement in Accounting Education award from the Hawaii Society of CPAs in 2005.
Professional Experience:
Jack holds an active CPA Permit to Practice in Hawaii. He worked for KPMG in Chicago, Honolulu and Guam. He has other experience as an internal auditor with a natural gas pipeline corporation and as a human resources and training officer for the State of California Personnel and Franchise Tax Boards. He has served as an officer and director of chapters of the AICPA, IIA, IMA and FEI.
Interests:
Jack helps students develop a solid understanding of the accounting cycle, changes in financial reporting and auditing standards and internal controls needed to manage the financial affairs of businesses, non-profit, government and educational organizations. He focuses on preparing students to pass professional accounting exams. He has been active in Hawaii business, politics, education and athletics since age 21.
