Golden Apple awards
The Golden Apple Awards are an annual opportunity for HPU (faculty, staff or students) to recognize and commend the skills and contributions of faculty and staff to the advancement of teaching, scholarship and service at HPU. The Center for the Advancement of Innovative Teaching (CAIT) administers this award for the Faculty Assembly. Winners are selected by a subcommittee of the Faculty Development Policies and Activities Committee of the Assembly.
To nominate someone from the HPU community (staff or faculty), write a letter (about 500 words) describing evidence of achievement for which the award is focused. We strongly recommend that the nominator document specific details of the achievement. Specific examples (e.g. letters from students, examples of student work, observed descriptions of pedagogy, peer observations conducted by nominator) are valued over very general statements of accomplishment. We suggest the nominator attach concise supporting evidence to (or embed links to evidence in) the nominating letter and that the nominee be invited to assist in supplying evidence. We discourage the submission of details (such as those that might accompany a reappointment portfolio) and encourage electronic submission of nominations.
