Creating Online Exams

Ed Gehringer, at North Carolina State University, has posted on a faculty developers’ listserv a thoughtful paper (Online vs. On-Paper Exams) exploring the factors involved in administering exams online.  Ed writes:

I didn't start out to write a 17-page paper, but the issues raised by you and your colleagues [in the listserv conversations] were so worthy of consideration that I decided to classify all of them and write a road map that could be used by someone trying to decide whether to offer online exams.  If you don't have time to read the whole paper, you might still be interested in perusing the tables at the end of each section that identify dozens of points pro and con in various categories.  Thanks for your help, and let me know of any ideas you have for the revised version.
