Hawai‘i Pacific University’s academic year consists of two major semesters (Fall and Spring), a winter session, and several summer sessions providing a student the opportunity to take courses year round.
- Fall semester begins in early September (usually the day after Labor Day) and consists of 15 weeks including a week of final examinations. Within the Fall semester are two 8-week sessions that run back-to-back; the early 8-week session (8A) begins the last week of August and the late 8-week session (8B) starts in mid-October and ends in mid-December.
- Spring semester begins in mid-January and is 16 weeks in length including final examinations but there is a week-long Spring break in the middle of the semester. Within the Spring semester are two 8-week sessions that run back-to-back; the early 8-week session (8A) begins in early January and runs through mid-March and the late 8-week session (8B) starts in mid-March and ends in early May.
