Hawai’i Pacific University Campus Security Statistics

The U.S. federal Campus Security Act (CSA), passed in 1990, requires all institutions of higher education to have policies and procedures in place regarding crime statistics, reporting, and prevention. Accordingly, a policy was put into effect at HPU, and statistical data has been collected continuously since then.

It is important that HPU students, faculty and staff be aware of, and familiar with, the policy and procedures for reporting any and all criminal activities, or unusual, or emergency situations that occur on or off campus, at university functions, or in university - provided housing.

There were a predominate number of incidents involving theft, usually backpacks and other associated personal belongings. The following statistics indicate the types and number of reported criminal and other unusual incidents for calendar years 2011, 2012, and 2013:
