As a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II for intercollegiate sports, HPU has a full set of men’s and women’s sports and can provide scholarships to its student athletes. (NCAA organizes the athletic programs/competitions of its members and only allows Division I and II to offer scholarships; Division III cannot).

HPU has a variety of competitive men’s and women’s sports teams. HPU’s men’s athletic programs are baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, and tennis. Women's athletic programs at HPU include basketball, cross-country, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. For the 2009-10 school year, every team either proceeded to a post season regional competition and/or had individual members who were recognized at the conference level by being given the title of All-Conference team member. Men’s Tennis, Women’s Tennis, and Women’s Softball proceeded all the way to the National Championships this year with Women's Softball winning the national title.

Cheer/DanceCheer & Dance Teams

The HPU Cheer program is composed of a variety of award winning teams. As of Spring 2010, the Cheer program has won 1st place awards at the national championships for the last 8 years in a row. The HPU Dance Team is equally impressive as one of the highest award winning dance teams in the nation. In 2010, the HPU Dance Team won their fifth consecutive championship totaling national titles for six years overall (2004, 2006-2010).
