Hawai’i Pacific University is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II. The HPU Sharks compete in the Pacific West Conference and offer 14 scholarship sports.
HPU has a variety of competitive men’s and women’s teams. HPU’s men’s athletic programs are baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and tennis. Women's athletic programs at HPU include basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. Acrobatics and tumbling, an emerging women’s sport, began competition in 2013-14.
For the 2012-13 school year, 11 of the 13 teams had individual members who were recognized at the conference level by being selected to an All-PacWest Team. Six of the teams had members make the All-West Region Team and three teams boasted All-Americans. As a team, the men’s tennis and women’s tennis squads both advanced all the way to the national championships.
